The Mamas are truly a creation of Mother Necessity.  After each having our first child, we realized that music suddenly became an “us” or “them” situation, with either the child or the parent less than enthusiastic.  Lizzie Peress, who has fronted numerous rock bands in NYC, and Marlowe Bechmann a classically trained pianist, began to collaborate on finding a way to appeal to both audiences.  The result is a collection of songs that span the realms of folk, calypso, reggae, blues and soft ballads. 

 

In addition to playing in NYC bands, Lizzie has worked as a music therapist for the past 10 years. She is also a licensed “Music Together” teacher.  Marlowe has been teaching music and developmental classes to children 0—5 both in Chicago and in Houston.

 

We both welcomed our second child into the world this past December so that means we are also putting together our second CD!  Make sure we have your e-mail address for further news.
